About Our Bar/Bat Mitzvah Students
A Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah is a time of great celebration and excitement, but at the same time can be a time of stress and confusion. Fortunately, Cantor Barbra and her team have decades of combined experience helping students and their families successfully navigate the Bar/Bat Mitzvah lifecycle.
Our Goal for Our Students
We want all of our students and their families to have the Bar or Bat-Mitzvah training and celebration that works for them, free from judgment and from pressure. Some of our students, for example, are excellent Hebrew readers who chant the texts in Hebrew. Other students who for whatever reason don’t have a strong or a limited Hebrew background, however, use other learning techniques, so they enjoy the pride of being a Bar Mitzvah without needing to learn a new language.
Who are Our Students?
Each Bar/Bat Mitzvah student is unique. As such,Cantor Barbra caters an individual learning plan for each student based upon the family's goals, and the student’s capabilities..
Do Both Parents Need to Be Jewish to Work with You? What About Interfaith Families?
Our Bar/Bat Mitzvah students hail from various backgrounds. Some students have parents who are both Jewish, but are not affiliated with a synagogue for various reasons, whereas other students are from an interfaith family.
Students with Learning Needs
Cantor Barbra understands that some students may have learning challenges and thus need one-on-one attention throughout the Bar/Bat-Mitzvah training process that one cannot get in a traditional Hebrew School environment. She and her team of tutors have the experience and the patience to work with students who have special learning needs to ensure that your child has a Bar or Bat Mitzvah that is catered to their needs and that they can be proud of.
Students with Extensive Other Commitments
We also work with students who are involved in a large number of extra-curricular or after school-activities, and simply don’t have the time to commit to a traditional Hebrew school education. Cantor Barbra stresses that schoolwork always comes before training, and will create a balanced Bar/Bat-Mitzvah plan that’s designed to work Bar/Bat-Mitzvah training into the student’s schedule.
