The majority of Cantor Barbra’s families are unaffiliated with a synagogue and haven’t had a place to worship for the High Holidays. In September 2018, after numerous requests, Cantor Barbra conducted Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services at a local library.
The services are geared towards young families with a user friendly machzor (High Holiday prayerbook). Each service lasts approximately 1 ½ hours which includes discussions and family participation. Each child receives his/her own shofar and there is an opportunity to play musical instruments. On Rosh Hashanah, apples with honey for a sweet year are served in addition to other refreshments. All new, current, and former families are invited with their relatives.
